Dr. Urja Shah was born in India and moved to the United States at the age of five. She is a native to Greenbelt, Maryland where she has lived most of her life. Thus, was very excited about her return to Maryland to serve patients in her hometown when she joined the Foot and Ankle Specialists of the Mid-Atlantic, LLC along with being an active surgical staff member at Doctor’s Community Hospital.
Dr. Urja Shah obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biological Science majoring in Neurology and Physiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She pursued her passion for medicine by attending Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA where she received her doctorate. Upon completion of her post-graduate studies, Dr. Shah attended St Luke’s Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania for a comprehensive three-year surgical residency in foot and ankle surgery. She received well-rounded training in both elective and non-elective care in the forefoot and complex rearfoot reconstruction, trauma, as well as diabetic foot/wound care for limb salvage.
Dr. Urja Shah is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) and board qualified in foot surgery with American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).
She is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA)/ Maryland Podiatric Medical Association (MPMA).
She also volunteers at various medical camps in order to give back to the community.
Dr. Shah is extremely family-oriented and cultured in her ability to speak both Gujarati and Hindi. During her free time, she loves to dance and spend time with her family and friends.
