Dr. Alex Olivera was born in Secaucus, New Jersey but grew up in the town of
Beachwood, New Jersey just outside Tom’s River. He graduated from Philadelphia
University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and then attended the Temple
University School of Podiatric Medicine. Alex then completed a three-year surgical
residency program at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton,
Pennsylvania under the tutelage of Dr. LaPorta and also served as assistant chief
resident in his third year.
During his three years in Scranton, Alex had extensive training in all aspects of foot
and ankle care. This includes reconstructive foot and ankle procedures of the
forefoot and rearfoot, trauma, diabetic foot care and wound care.
Alex also completed a two-month rotation at the Rubin Institute for Advanced
Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He takes special interest in
management of Charcot deformity, bunion treatment, sports medicine, and
orthopedics, though he is capable of addressing and taking care of all foot and ankle
conditions.
When not working at the office, Dr. Alex Olivera enjoys reading, fitness, and playing
music in a band. Dr. Olivera plays in a food drive concert coordinated by him and his
three close friends in their hometowns of Pine Beach/Beachwood, New Jersey every
Christmas season for the last six years.
