Foot Doctors in Frederick, MD (Thomas Johnson Dr.)

The office of Dr. David Levine opened in March 1989. As the practice grew so did the services offered. In October 2000 the practice expanded – moving to a new and larger location. Pedorthic services were added with certified pedorthists, Dr. David Levine and Matt Meitzler as well as orthopedic and shoe repair with Chris Logan. In 2013, Jennifer Bell, DPM joined the practice and then in 2016, Sana Shamim, DPM joined the practice. They also have one more location in Mt Airy, MD

The atmosphere in the office is professional and comfortable.

Our staff is like family. Having long term employees provides reassurance to patients when they see a familiar faces visit after visit and year after year.

Our office offers unique services not typically found in a podiatry office. In addition to the podiatry practice, we have a specialty shoe store that has a large inventory of shoes for hard to fit feet. This provides us the ability to focus on people with special foot needs especially like those with diabetes.

In addition, we have a full time shoe repair technician. He is able to modify all types of shoes for all types of conditions. Whether it is a lift for a shorter leg or other creative modifications, Chris Logan is able to modify, repair, and creatively solve all types of shoe challenges.

We also have our own orthotic lab. Matt Meitzler, C. Ped fabricates and modifies all of our orthotic devices “in house.”

Special Services Offered

The services we provide are considered unique anywhere – and definitely unique in Frederick. The training and expertise of Drs. Levine, Bell and Shamim cover conservative and surgical management of all foot and ankle conditions.

In addition, the pedorthic services as well as specialty shoe services gives us the ability to help people walk and function more comfortably.

Our Approach to Footcare

People often think that podiatry is a specialty that only deals with the foot and ankle. However, many of our patients may have lower back, hip or even knee pain that might be caused by the foot.

For instance, after undergoing a knee or hip replacement a leg length difference may result. This will indirectly affect the foot and the way it functions sometimes causing pain.

Treatment could be as simple as a lift for the shorter side. There are many examples of both conservative and surgical management of the foot and ankle where problems and issues may have started elsewhere like the lower back, hip or knee. That’s why making an appointment for a thorough biomechanical evaluation is a great idea — today.

Our office treats patients of all ages from infants to seniors.

Because of our easy access and multiple locations, we are able to accommodate patients with same day appointments. Our two offices – Frederick and Mt. Airy – are easy to find, very accessible and offer plenty of parking.

We are located close to Carrollton, Monocacy, Clover Hill, Tuscarora Knolls, Waterside, and Mill Island communities.

  1. Very satisfied with everything...

  2. Dr. Levine made me feel comfortable and explained my treatment options clearly. Overall the experience was a pleasant one. Thanks.

  3. Dr. Bell is one of the only doctors that I see who really seems to care about me and my health issues. I never feel like I'm being rushed, and she actually listens during our conversations instead of staring at the computer and typing the entire time. I always recommend this practice to anyone I know who mentions foot pain!

  4. Had a positive experience with this office. Will definitely recommend to others.

  5. I travel an hour or more to this office. The doctor and staff are truly great!

  6. Dr.Bell is wonderful to work with. She listens and ask questions to determine what the best options are to help with the pain and discomfort in my feet. I'm grateful for her help and support.

  8. Very pleasant person.

  9. Dr Levine very nice, listening -calm -advice.

  10. Dr. Levine, It was good to see you again. Because I was very satisfied with your care the first time I came to you -- the pain in my right foot went away completely after I followed your recommendations --I did not hesitate to make an appointment with you recently regarding pain in my other foot, likely due to some dance steps I did wearing shoes with no support. After following all your recommendations to a T, I am happy that my left foot is now pain-free and I'll be sure to always wear shoes with support from now on. But if I mess up or somehow get another injury I'll be quick to call for an appointment with you. Thanks very much! [...]

  11. Waiting time before being taken back to the examination room was minimal -- too short to even play aa game on my phone while waiting. Once in the exam room, the initial consult before the doctor arrived was both pleasant and professional. Dr. Bell came in, got right to work and carried on a pleasant conversation regarding my health and life. I am more than pleased with the service and treatment by Dr. Bell. Although I get routine nail cutting by Dr. Bell, I have never felt less as a patient than if I had come in with a major problem. As a bi-lateral neuropathy patient, she considers my whole health as she does routine work. Great doctor. Great service.

  12. Wonderful experience, thank you!

  13. I really enjoyed Dr. Levine's bedside manner. And, his knowledge and skill was immediately apparent.

  14. Dr. Shamim is fantastic. I do not like Dr. in general. I tend to stay away from them. Dr. Shamim is caring, spends time talking to you and makes you feel great. She is the best that I have met.

  15. Thankful to find a very competent podiatrist. Worth the one hour drive.

  21. Dr. David Levine is knowledgable and very professional. I would recommend him to anyone needing a foot specialist.

  22. Listened, attentive and thorough.

  23. Dr. Levine explained the problem and gave clear instructions for how to treat it. I appreciated the written visit notes given to me to refer to at home.

  24. Dr. Bell was pleasant and proactive about ruling out possibilities to ensure the course of action would be most beneficial to me. Additionally, she discussed other options and provided additional information as it related.
