Lecture Series with Dr. Caitlin Madden – Part 1

Dr. Caitlin Madden recently had the privilege of speaking at the Mid-Atlantic Podiatry Conference alongside many prominent names in the field. The three-day conference included lectures and workshops, and was co-sponsored by the Podiatry Institute and the Mid-Atlantic Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Madden shared her knowledge, with a packed lecture hall of her medical colleagues, on topics including antibiotics prophylaxis, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) prevention, and in-office ultrasound use. She proudly represented FASMA as a young physician and surgeon with a bright future.

Part 1: Facts About Ultrasound you may not know

With regards to Ultrasound use in the doctors office, Dr. Madden gave a lecture about incorporating ultrasound technology into patient care. Many doctors use ultrasound to guide their injections- making them more accurate and effective– but there’s more to it than that! It can also be used to examine injuries to tendons and ligaments, to discover small fractures, and to better locate and measure soft tissue lesions. Your doctor may use ultrasound to diagnose or evaluate conditions such as neuromas, tumors, ganglions, tendinitis, or plantar fasciitis. Ultrasound does not use radiation, and is therefore very safe.
